Lilies
"Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: yet I say unto you, that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these." Matthew 6:28
About Lilies
Lilies have always been one of the motives I would often return to and one of the ornaments of our garden. I would often draw inspiration while looking at them through the window that overlooks the garden. Many times they reminded me of the verses from the Gospel of Matthew 6:25-30, that inspired this exhibition.
“Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?”
Often when circumstances of life would begin to bring worry and anxiety, these verses would always empower and encourage me. If we trust in Him, we will be dressed more beautifully than lilies and like them, we will have no worries and will be able to grow in peace! This is the message I would like to express with this exhibition.
Incentive for its realization came to my husband and me while we were living in Split and with the blessing of Evangelical Pentecostal Church “Good News” in Split, we held an exhibition there.
On this occasion, I would like to thank the entire Good News community, all the guests and friends, my family and husband who have supported me, and most of all to the Lord who put this message in my heart and made it possible for me to spread it with a painting knife and paint into the world.
